Since 2001, Steve Schell has worked for several Idealab companies. As a founding member of Evolution Robotics, Mr. Schell was lead engineer on the entire product line and oversaw the company's dynamic growth during its first four years. After a brief stint at the Numerica Corporation, working on advanced algorithm and software solutions for the defense industry, Mr. Schell returned to Idealab to take a position with Desktop Factory. There, he provided technical direction for a team of mechanical, electrical, software, and process engineers working on an affordable 3-D printer. Mr Schell made the move to eSolar in November 2007, and on his journey to the position of Vice President of Systems Engineering has played a leading role in the development of heliostat and solar receiver designs as well as spearheading the creation of a systems engineering and test group. Mr. Schell graduated from The California Institute of Technology with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
