Tim Olson is an attorney and licensed professional engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the power industry. He is presently Senior Intellectual Property counsel with GE Power, a world leader in power generation technologies for utilities, independent power producers and industrial applications. He joined GE with Alstom, where he held the positions of general legal counsel for Steam Power (North America) and Patents and Trademarks Chief Counsel.
Tim’s broad experience in both the legal and technical aspects of the power industry ranges from technology development, protection, and monetization, to test-scale and full-scale construction. He successfully negotiated government and privately funded research agreements in the U.S. and Europe, and multi-million dollar contracts for commercialization of Alstom’s power technology in China, Egypt, India, Pakistan, and the United States.
Tim received his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law, with honors, and holds Master of Science degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in both Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. He received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
